(1) Mechanical properties of carbon/carbon composites: They exhibit high specific strength (the ratio of strength to density), high specific modulus (the ratio of modulus to density), and excellent fracture toughness. (2) High-temperature performance of carbon/carbon composites: These materials can withstand temperatures exceeding 3000°C, with exceptional resistance to thermal shock and outstanding ablation resistance. (3) Environmental conditions for carbon/carbon composites: At temperatures above 370°C, oxidation begins in air; therefore, these materials must be used under vacuum or in protective atmospheres at elevated temperatures. (4) Design flexibility of carbon/carbon composites: They can be engineered to achieve unique combinations such as "high thermal conductivity—thermal insulation," "high hardness—low hardness," "good electrical conductivity—low electrical conductivity," and "high friction coefficient—low friction coefficient."
