  Carbon fiber fully wrapped cylinders are a new type of composite material cylinder that has emerged in recent years. They primarily consist of an inner liner, carbon fibers, resin, and other components, and have been widely promoted and applied across industries such as road transportation, rail transit, hydrogen energy, and fuel cells.

  The inner liner of a carbon-fiber fully wrapped gas cylinder primarily serves to ensure gas tightness, as well as resistance to temperature and pressure. The wrapping layers are designed to provide the cylinder with sufficient strength, rigidity, and stability under stress. The main advantages of a carbon-fiber fully wrapped gas cylinder are as follows:

  1) The gas cylinder is lightweight, highly rigid, and boasts high strength;

  2) Fatigue failure in metallic materials typically occurs as a sudden, unexpected collapse without obvious warning signs, whereas in composite materials, the strong bonding between the reinforcement and the matrix not only efficiently transfers loads but also effectively inhibits crack propagation, thereby enhancing the fracture toughness of the gas cylinder.

  3) In composite materials, when a large number of reinforcing fibers are overloaded and a few fibers break, the load is quickly redistributed to the undamaged fibers, ensuring that the entire cylinder does not lose its load-bearing capacity in the short term.

  4) Composite material gas cylinders, when subjected to impact or high-speed collisions that cause failure, do not produce hazardous fragments, thereby reducing or preventing injuries to personnel.

  5) It can meet corrosion resistance requirements without special treatment.
